‘GURU – SISHYA’ BIND
GURU & SISHYA, The most protuberant and prominent words in the classical Arts milieu…

“True Guru transfigure themselves as bridges over which they invite students to cross, then having facilitated their crossing, collapses with joy, encouraging them to become bridges for others. “
Sishya::- A word deeply embedded in the mind of a student even before they learn their first step/note/syllable…A word with honesty, respect, dedication, and responsibility! What is the real sense of that word? A word that translates to “disciple” – perhaps “Seeker”!
It Requires and obviously demands much more than just being a student… A lifelong peregrination filled with enormous patience, hard work, candor, dedication, and perseverance; surrendering themselves selflessly. Ever awakened, transparent, and brimming with an incessant thirst for knowledge!
Initially, one must “HUNT” patiently for that guide/teacher, understand thoroughly even before approaching them for guidance. It is not about what is “convenient” but what is “necessary”- Once the teacher is identified, the shishya should completely put their trust in that teacher for an extended period of time.
Once the basic foundation is thoroughly and firmly planted IN THE SOUL, exploration will be useful for a rewarding journey ahead. It is not just about classroom learning; it is about literally shadowing the teacher; spending countless hours at the dance space, sometimes dancing; many times observing the teacher and other dancers.
Ultimately finding out a conduit of undiluted/unrestricted knowledge, which goes beyond time and space to become one with that universal energy! I am really fortunate for having many many dedicated and committed “sishyas”…really fastened and compact…
